Papers, manuscripts, and lectures; working papers; correspondence. The papers, manuscripts and lectures cover such topics as dispersion (1910, 1920s), atomic spectra (1916), theory of microscopy (1930s), science in the USSR, electromagnetic theory (ca. 1910), optics (ca. 1910), and botanical subjects. The collection documents Rozhdestvenskiy's work at the Academy of Sciences (1912-1940), the Optical Institute (1923-1939), of which he was Director between 1918 and 1932, and the Atomic Commission of the Optical Institute (1920). Correspondents (1902-1940) include: R. W. Wood, P. Drude, R. Ladenburg, P. Ehrenfest, S. I. Vavilov, E. F. Gross, L. I. Mandelstam, G. A. Shain, and V. M. Chulanovskiy. Biographical materials include notebooks (1928-1940), an autobiography (1937), and photographs. Collection also includes the papers of O.A. Dobiash-Rozhdestvenskaya, a medievalist.
